Vicky and David met in 2012 at their friends’ wedding in London but it wasn’t until those same friends threw a Christmas party in December 2014 that they got together. Vicky is from England so they had a long distance relationship going back and forth between London and Dublin for a while until they decided they would take the next big step and Vicky made the permanent move to Dublin.
When they were holidaying in Spain, David proposed. In a gorgeous spot overlooking a reservoir called Barranco de Geba in Murica, David got down on one knee in the dusty dirt. Initially he presented her with a claddagh ring which Vicky was less than impressed with, but luckily for her it was just a place-holder!
Vicky and David tied the knot in the Unitarian church in October this year. After the beautiful ceremony, we hopped over to St. Stephen’s Green for some photos. We were so lucky with the weather getting a warm sunny day. After the stroll in the park, we walked the rest of the way to their drinks reception in Bowes pub via Grafton street, stopping along the way for some photos.
After their drinks reception, we walked across the road to Medley for some speeches, drinks and dinner. Everyone left the pub and lined up to throw confetti at the happy couple as we made the short journey. The best man, who is a guard even stopped the traffic so make sure it was safe for the guests to be on the road… it helps to have friends in high places!
When asked why they chose to get married in the city center they replied;
We wanted to get married in Dublin City center because it meant so much to us. We didn’t want a venue that was just another faceless function room or miles away in the countryside where we never go. We wanted to show our guests the life we enjoy in Dublin and for it to be somewhere we’d be able to walk past every day and remember.
It was such a relaxed and personalised day with Vicky and David doing all of their own invitations, Vicky’s mum arranging the flowers and her sister making their cake!
Thank you Vicky & David for letting me capture it for you!
